SPIRITUAL ART
![]() ![]() ![]() Below is a documentary I have watch and researched which explores..challenges society against evolution and the truth life holds. Narrator, collaboration of creative editing, questions the audience, suggestive and educational, fibrary economy, capitalism, what it is our system and society? intoduces the production team filming their ideas of how they want to inform the audience about the world within strong communication. The Third Dimension. The third dimension describes the balance between ourselves, society, our families and the Universe. For spiritualists they need to discover the gaps in the inner self and fill them through methods of spiritual practice. They acquire the taste of balancing their inner life by examining the four dimensions of balance in spiritual practice: context, mode, vehicle and style. Context describes how we should balance ourselves with our sorroundings by considering our family, society and the Universe. It says we should not focus solely on others you risk losing ourselves, the energy and peace of mind we need to serve well. But then if we direct our spiritual life on ourselves we become self absorbed and it is important to create balance by discovering the sense of completeness and integrity. There are three Modes and it is vital that we create a balance as it characterises our spiritual pracises. The active mode shows a directed, outward flowing, affirming quality. The open mode embraces inward flowing, receiving, giving, accepting, allowing and resigning quality. This mode can also manifest laziness, resistance and passivity. The final mode , the harmonic mode, transport a creative freedom. Enabling the two other modes to combine in a natural and unforced way. The phrase "in the zone" is used in the harmonic mode and is seen as effortlessly perfect action. If we used all these modes in the correct way their interactiveness can stimulate us and reach new depths and experiences into a spiritual life. The Vehicle mode relates to the vehicle of our body meaning our heart, body, mind and soul. Our body enables us to move, act and keep up with society around us. Our minds we have the power to think, emotionalise, dream, visualise and understand and with our hearts are full of emotions which can be broken by people and how affects and society affects us within. All these three can be unbalance easily as we can be drawn to either our feelings, physicality or our thoughts and understandings. Style is the final dimension to aid spiritualists in finding a balance between their inner and outer self. There are two specific styles spiritualists follow and practise to gain a right of action in the world, the way of responsibility and kindness. The formal and continuous style merge to together. Spiritualists find time to use these practices in their daily lives which come from mediation or prayer to find high energy within them which purifies and strengthens. Formal practice belongs to our inner self where as continuous falls between inner and outer. With these they form to the third major part of spirituality to help a person develop, transform and purify their own will. Formal and continuous practice compliments each other and between these styles they lead to appropriate balance attuned to our own possibilities and propensities. The Celestine Prophecy. A Youtube clip of a tv show produced and directed by Kevin El Poeta http://www.youtube.com Spiritual consciousness documentaries, short clips - http://www.quora.com FORUMS and SPIRITUAL GROUPS. Here I have researched Spiritual forums and websites specifically for Spiritualists who can share their experiences and views on Spiritualism as well as searching groups and meetings within their area. ![]() | ![]() ![]() SPIRITUALITY WITH MUSIC I have contacted a wrapper and spiritualists named Kevin El Poeta known as 'Kev the Poet' who was suggested by my friend. He Directed and Produced this programme called the Synchro Flow TV Show, which merges spirituality with music and drugs. The show gives an insight into how music can open peoples minds and think about the meaning of life and why we are here just through meaningful lyrics. Music and spirituality has the power to enlighten people and inspire us to think deep within. For this Documentary I have asked if Kevin El Poeta would be willing to be filmed for this Documentary and he said a few of his music friends would also like the publicity. When I next got in contact Kevin El Poeta to asked him whether there is any conflict or problems within spirituality. Is there is any form of conflict within spirituality and my music? First I should define the fact that I mainly make Hip-Hop but I also make reggae and sing over a special instrument called a Hang Drum. But I shall be talking about Hip-Hop / rap music. Also I define spirituality as that which concerns the eternal and infinite, whether it's past-life experiences, or philosophical ideas, or ideas on the nature of reality in general beyond the physical day to day and here andnow. I specifically have been most interested in Buddhism, Chinese Taoism and shamanism of all types but mainly Native American. Is there is any form of conflict within spirituality and my music? No. There may be conflict between spirituality and mainstream Hip-Hop, or mainstream rap as mainstream rap is associated with crime, sex, and superficiality. Some people associate rap music with negativity in general and I feel like I am here to prove that Hip-Hop can be about anything. But I don't make mainstream hip-hop or mainstream rap, I make rap music and conscious Hip-Hop. Although the production levels and the musical talent on my projects could be described as mainstream, sometimes I go for a mainstream sound just as far as the quality of sound is concerned but the lyrical content is very different, very spiritual. At the same time the definition of mainstream is changing as independent artists get more percentage of their profits and the record industry in general is selling less records. The music my friends produce is similar but most of my friends make other music which do not have the same drawbacks. In a way, most mainstream Hip-Hop is negative so making spiritual Hip-Hop can seem strange but, especially in the late 80s and early 90s when I got into Hip-Hop alot of the lyrics were spiritual, and I feel that is coming back. People want it. But most of my friends make music like reggae, or acoustic music, where spiritual lyrics are not at all surprising but expected. Are there any problems that I face with society with people understanding me or my friends music? No, not really. Yes maybe 10 years ago but more and more people are interested in spirituality, more and more people are talking about synchronicity and the lucky coincidences that seem to multiply when you follow your passions and try to help people, and more and more people want music that reflects this. Contacted Kevin El Poeta again asking whether he has any weird an wonderful friends who we could follow and take a journey with for our documentary. I wanted to see whether himself and any of his friends have any strange interests/hobbies and stories they could share with us. I asked him this as spirituality has been done before and there is nothing new to learn, this is why I wish to see if his friends and himself can introduce us to any knew views on spirituality, hobbies, interests and jobs they do. This is the feedback I got from him: Kevin: My friend Craig plays hang and he has been doing a course that helps optimise the mind by revealing the nature of mind. They do not promote themselves as spiritual, but I think they are and Craig definitely is. If you want cinematic, theatrical characters I cN introduce you to a bunch in Bristol and especially Glastonbury but alot of them are not on facebook and would not agree to being on camera unless you spoke to them properly first. Yeah, I know some weirdos, ha! But please explain exactly what it is you want, because to be honest, if I had to tell a friend now I wouldn't know what to say. What is your documentary about, what sort of characters do you want and why? Thank you x Steiner School. Steiner School provides education for those with different ethnicities, religion, class and academic ability.Fibonacci Code. A book that I read defines the Fibonacci Code as the explanation of the Universe in a mathematical form. It explains how the Fibonacci sequence is in virtually in all living beings for example when a plant grows it grows in the same order as 1,1,2,3,5,8. The code also relates to us humans by adding the Past with the Present to receive the Future. To spiritualists the Fibonacci Code is a way of connecting everything in the universe to a pattern and how the Universe is created in a particular way. Holistic Therapies. Chi-Gung also known as Qi Gong is a chinese movement exercise across between Tai-Chi and Yoga. Spiritual individuals do this as often as they can. The excercise is good for everything from hangovers, comedowns, heals the body and mind, reduces stress, hypertension, increases vitality as well as replenishing. It focuses mainly on calming and focussing the mind which includes slow breathing and movement exercises. Discovering Qi-cong - this video explains and demonstrates the step by step exercise of Qi-cong enabling the viewer to follow and do the exercise themselves. Chakras points hold energy in our 'soul' or 'higher self', traditions in Buddhism and Hinduism. The points are in the main parts of are body where a person can collect energy. You can balance your body with the seven energy sources that rule all of your organs and work together in one system but independently. These seven points in our body all define us as individuals and they are ways in which people can balance each of the seven energies in their body and you can influence your chakras functions by self analysing your body to see where you hold any negativity. There have been many documentaries exploring the terminally ill condition Cancer. It is a very challenging and moving subject for both the viewers and production team as Cancer has been apart of nearly everyones life, whether it is a family member, friend, or themselves. Even though the subject is upsetting it can give the audience an insight into what Cancer is really about and how families cope with the life threatening illness. it helps us to understand and comprehend to their emotions and make us more aware of how we should respond by supporting patients, doctors and nurses to find a cure. The particular documentaries I have viewed are broadcasted on Channel 4. Documentaries such as The Hospital goes inside Queen Elizibeths Hospital Young Person Unit and gives us a clearer perception to how ill patients are treated and how they cope. Another most recent programmed broadcasted again on Channel 4 19th October 2012, is a long running fundraising campaign combining members of the public, stars, music and film to raise as much money as possible to Stand up to Cancer. The programme investigates into extraordinary real lives who are experiencing Cancer and how it has impacted them and people around them. The films are communicated through first person narration of those who have Cancer and their family. From this you get deeply attached to the family and individual with cancer as their emotion powerfully impacts our emotions as the audience. | ![]() ![]() |

For this idea I want to visit a few specialised Hospitals and sponsor children with the terminal illness, raising money for them to make their wish come true. I will get in touch with charities to hear my idea to see if they would help me with promotion and advertising to help raise money. I do not want to publicise the child too much in terms of who they are and their background as I would need to get consent from their parents and privacy is vital for this touching subject and circumstance the child and family are in. My objective is to create a website to keep track of all the activities and events we will do in order to raise money for these children in the hospitals who want their wish to become true. These opportunities can make these children happy and take their mind off the life inside the hospital and the trauma they have to go through and deal with. However the opportunities come as a cost therefore I think it would be incredible if every day during the process of creating the documentary I could show the activities and events that people would get together and do to raise money. These events would be linked with schools, Universities, work environments, shopping centres etc. Even though this idea is like another Children In Need or Stand Up To Cancer I want to prove how a group of documentary students can help children with the illness by making them happy.
As this subject is personal to me I want to understand more about the illness and try to comprehend to the children as my brother who I did not know had liver cancer for 2 years and got it for no reason at all as he was a healthy boy up until the age of 8. I would film coverage of inside the hospital, the child and the families to show different stories of the life threatening illness as well as talking to the nurses an doctors to hear they're views and feelings.
Gym Obsessed?
Take this Test…
Copyright - www.alive.com Websites highlighting the causes of gym obsession. ![]() What would be interesting is to take a trip to different gyms within the UK and find individuals who are constant gym goers and are concerned with the way their body looks. I would take surveys in the gym to see how many times a week people go to the gym and revolve their life around this sort of lifestyle and see whether they take the obsession inside their own home and consider their dieting, whether they take steroids and their conscious. What I want to understand is why they have become obsessed and what drives people to to become this way. This survey will develop by following a few individuals and go into their life in how they want to always improve or change the way they look and in some cases become body builders. In some circumstances the gym becomes a competition between people, mainly men, as they compete in who can lift the most weights for example. Is this certain lifestyle healthy or is it actually affecting their body and their future well being both mentally and physically.

It is curious to understand why people like Ronnie Coleman undertake such drastic measures to transform there body in order to lift the heaviest weights and be the best at it. His health and body are in danger. He consumes 6 meals a day high in protein as well as taking steriods or pills in order to maintain and build his muscles. He visits the gym nearly every day and does what he can to improve his strength. There are many people like Ronnie who become obsessed with exercise and diet in order to be the biggest or the fittest. But what influences people to do this and why has this issue become their main objective in life? Body Dysmorphic Disorder Body Dysmorphia Disorder is a problem for many individuals. The disorder is a mental health problem related to body image and obsession with constantly improving ones appearance. Individuals worry about how proportioned their body build is and complain how the lack of symmetry and shape. |
![]() SURVEY I will visit two gyms and ask anonymous individuals to complete a survey I have produced in order to gain a rough perspective of how many people are obsessed and conscious of their body shape. Here are some questions I would like to ask individuals: How many times a week do you go to the gym? On a scale of 1-10 how many times a day would you think about your body shape? Are you happy with your body? If you could change one thing about your body and why? Are you dieting? Do you push yourself at the gym? On a scale of 1-10 how much are your comparing your body to others? Would you class your self as gym obsessed? | ![]() |
Louis Theroux a journalist who is famous for his challenging documentaries where he is the narrator, taking the viewers on a journey following his subject. His most known documentaries is a television series called Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends, where he lives closely with the person he is documenting, getting involved with the action himself. Theroux describes the aim of the series:
"Setting out to discover the genuinely odd in the most ordinary setting. To me, it's almost a privilege to be welcomed into these communities and to shine a light on them and, maybe, through my enthusiasm, to get people to reveal more of themselves than they may have intended. The show is laughing at me, adrift in their world, as much as at them. I don't have to play up that stuff. I'm not a matinee idol disguised as a nerd."
Within this series he uses the participatory mode to engage with the subject and his audience. When Theroux gets involved with the documentary it becomes more interesting as he is taking control of the subject by asking particular questions in order to get a certain outcome. I chose this example as it is similar to my idea.
What does this documentary show?
. Theroux experiences the work out regimes by going to a famous body building gym to see how body builders train. Demonstrating how tough individuals can be to their body.
. Shows different sides and arguments to the subject. For example we here the drug and non drug route of body building by speaking to individuals who train to enter competitions.
. Theroux follows one main bodybuilder named Guy, to gain a more of an understanding why he does it and why he enjoys it however his subject does not persuade the audience to do it themselves.
. Theroux makes clear to his subjects he does not want to make them feel he is putting them in the wrong. He wants to understand what drives them to body build and why they think it should be more accepted in society.
. Theroux uses an unbiased approach to this documentary however his subjects are biased.
. Looks into how body building relates to the media industry. Body building is promoted through photos, advertising, films, competitions, fan clubs.
. Discovers women body builders and why men fantasies over them, gaining and insight into why female body builders are more attractive than your normal curvy woman.
. Male fantasies becomes a source of income for woman body builders aswell as competitions.
. Muscle worship and why men worship it.
WHY WE TRAIN - 2008 Documentary
This article talks about a 15 year old teenager who became gym obsessed and brainwashed into training his body. The article explains that 40 percent of boys in middle school and high school desire more muscle mass and some boys experience the use of protein shakes and steroids at such a young age to increase muscle in a short space of time whilst working out.
It is quite shocking to hear about young boys who feel the need to exercise excessively and in some cases get their hands on protein shakes and steroids. Particularly young boys and girls are so vulnerable to the media as they become easily brainwashed into thinking the ideal body is on the poster or magazine. They are so easily exposed to the media as the media publicise's weight to be such an important element in a lifestyle, however the media publicise's the 'perfect' body which becomes desirable, especially to young adults. They start to idolise models and body builders and become obsessed with improving their body.
From reading this article I think it would be interesting to explore whether younger boys and girls in secondary school and College feel conscious about their body. I would do this by taking a survey in schools and Colleges to see the outcome of this issue.
OBJECTIVES
. Understanding why people feel the need to train their bodies constantly.
. Finding out the number of people who care too much about their body by taking a survey in various gyms.
. Following a life of a personal trainer.
. See how teenagers and young adults react to this obsession and take a survey to see whether they are self conscious/obsessed with improving their body, even at a young age.
.Following the footsteps of a gym obsessed individual.
. Looking through forums to see if I can reach and approach a contact.
. Experimenting with exercise and diet regimes (parcipatory mode).
. Researching into how the Media and gyms manipulate society into getting fitter - why does it matter?
. Find the most craziest diet and fitness regimes.
. Finding out how much profit gyms make.
. Shock the audience to how many people have become gym obsessed.
. How does it affect peoples health.
Life as a Cleaner - Toilet Hygiene.
In some public toilets that I have been into in London the state of the toilet cubicle I have been in has been unsatisfactory and unhygeinic. Is this down to the members of the public who are using the toilet or is the cleaners not doing their job properly? Hidden camera to experience the reality of public toilets in the train station. Why the cleaner got to where he/she is why they chose that job, daily routines, etc hotel inspector going under cover
For my final idea I want to go visit two or three train station toilets around London, such as London Victoria and Charing Cross train station and find out about the daily life of the cleaners who clean the 20p charged toilets. I want to understand more about the individual cleaner, why they chose the job and what they have to deal with daily, in terms of any conflict between themselves and the public. Here are the aspects I wish to cover with this idea: . look into the hygiene of the toilet and see how the hygiene changes through out the day . go under cover in the toilets and see what kind of people go and pay to use the toilet . follow the cleaner around to understand his day to day routine . experience conflict the cleaner may face . understand more about the cleaner and why they have chosen to do this job . ask the public questions such as: how do they think the toilets can be improved? have they had any weird experiences in a public toilet? how do you find the hygiene of these toilets? . ask the cleaner questions such as: what has been the most disgusting experience you've had? what do you think you will do in the future? . film during late afternoon for peak time when the public are travelling home from London and late in the evening to see the night side to the toilets, seeing who goes in their . see if the cleaners get any respect from the public CONTACTS Contacted Network Rail Media Centre through phone and email and got told I would have to leave 10 days for them to get back to me. I would have to send them a written letter of my intentions for filming, release forms and health and forms which will be created by ourselves with our own production company logo. This shows we are students being professional within the media working industry and to get permission granted from train stations within London.
